After studying Modern Languages at Durham University, Tim trained at RADA. He acted for a number of years before concentrating on directing and since then has worked as a director, actor, writer and dramaturg.
In addition to freelancing for many regional and London theatres, he was Artistic Director of Libra Theatre Company Cambridge from 2003-2007 working with actors with special needs, and from 2008-2012 was Resident Director and acting Literary Manager for Bill Kenwright Limited. In this role he worked on, amongst others, the West End and touring productions of Blood Brothers, Evita and The Pitmen Painters.
Tim has also been associate director on the National Theatre’s production of London Road and the West End and touring productions of Sleeping Beauty (Barbican Theatre and New York), Tintin (Playhouse Theatre) as well as Cabaret (Lyric Theatre, Savoy Theatre and National Tour) and The Country Girl (Apollo Theatre).
Tim has also worked as a free-lance producer (Edinburgh and London Fringe), developed pieces as dramaturg/producer (Norwich and Norfolk Festival, Playwrights East and the Pulse Festival). He has a personal interest in the use of technology in performance and has written scripts for the theatre and digital media output including the interactive drama "Ghosts" for BBC Hull/Hull City Council, various games scripts for BBC Jam (Formerly BBC Digital Curriculum) as well as an award winning web based experience for CBBC online.
In 2018 Tim completed and MA in Playwriting at Essex University with distinction.
He is Artistic Director of Three Pin Productions, brainchild of actor Ruthie Henshall and MD Paul Schoffield and continues a strong relationship with West End producer Bill Kenwright Limited.
He is currently working as Dramaturg/Director on various projects including a new musical with actor Jimmy Nail and writer Ian le Frenais
